The Olympic Torch

The London 2012 Olympic Flame will be coming to Mole Valley on the afternoon of Friday 20th July 2012 on its way to the Olympic Stadium in London on day 63 of its 70 day Relay around the UK. It will be travelling westwards from Reigate. For final details of the route see the LOCOG website or go the the Mole Valley District Council Website.

Dorking and Westcott are two of more than 1000 villages, towns and cities that will welcome the Olympic Flame as it makes its 8,000 mile journey around the UK. The flame will be carried by Torchbearers through both Dorking and Westcott before making its way to Stoke Park, Guildford for a ticketed evening celebration, which sold out in four hours, and overnight stop. The last time this happened in Dorking was in 1948.

Please check the road closures associated with all the events of the Olympic Games as these are likely to be extensive and prolonged. It will be especially important to know alternate routes in case of emergencies, such as having to go to Accident & Emergency departments at hospitals (for example). The Cycle Race takes place on Saturday 28th and Sunday 19th July.
