Capel Show – Thanks!

The stewards of the Capel Horticultural Society wish to thank Coffee Real for once again generously providing their excellent freshly ground, freshly brewed coffee on the morning of the show. We have come to depend on it because it wakes us up after the early start and provides a welcome break, coming as it does before the rush of exhibitors anxious to beat the 10am deadline. The aroma of the coffee alone is enough to refresh us in time for the judging to commence. The taste is delicious and is much appreciated by everyone. I firmly believe that the provision of such good coffee is a significant factor in the coming together of the stewards to form a cohesive team. There is nothing like fathering around a steaming coffee pot or in our case two large coffee dispensers to add to the friendliness of the atmosphere and the enjoyment of the event. The stewards work very hard, it is a long morning, they deserve the best. Coffee Real provides just that. I hope we shall be back again next year for another cup!

Many thanks to all Capel and district, friends and neighbours, for helping to make the stall, in aid of the Royal Marsden Hospital, such a success at this year’s summer show. The bottles supplied made for a very interesting and exciting display, which had queues, of would be winners’ the minute the show was open. How lucky we were to have the charming Bob Champion to assist in handing out the prizes? Thanks also to friends who helped with the “donkey work” erecting the stable, together with hay nets and matching floral arrangements. The jockeys cajoling people to “have a go” where a colourful sight which, together with the pantomime horse, all added to the jollity. When we receive the outstanding promised donations, we should be able to had over £1,00 to help “The Marsden” continue their wonderful work.

Bless you Love Sally.

PS – Since writing this I have received donations over and above the £1,000 I was working toward.

Many thanks to everyone who supported my Charity Bric-A-Brac Stall this year at the Ockley and Capel flower shows. We were thankfully blessed with good weather, and it was lovely as always to catch up with old friends.

Over the two weekends, we raised a total of £450, which will be split between Family Support Work, a charity run by local churches to support vulnerable families across Sussex, and the restoration fund for Okewood Church.

Thanks again for your help and support – I couldn’t do it without your generous donations.
