180721 Weekly sheets & Readings Sunday 18th July 2021

Dear friends,

We look forward to welcoming Liz and Doug back this weekend following their summer break.  We also wish the Weekly sheets editor, Debbie von Bergen, a happy holiday this week in Devon, together with an enjoyable day for the wedding that she is attending today.  We thank Alan Smallwood for stepping in as temporary editor this week and attach the weekly sheet for Sunday 18th July, together with the readings.  Thanks to Sue Partridge too for delivering the paper copies later today around Capel.

I hope everyone is enjoying the heat!  Below are some photos from a visit this week to RHS Wisley which is looking glorious in the height of summer – swathes of colour everywhere!  So much inspiration and so few weeds ….a joy to behold!

Enjoy the sunny weekend!

Best wishes,

Suzanne–

weekly news sheet 4 July 2021

Dear Friends,

Sport has rather taken over in our house this week, not only has my husband watched most of the Euro football matches – not just England, which given he’s not generally a football follower means he thinks we have a chance of winning, but he’s also watching the Rugby matches which feature two Lions teams this weekend. I thought that sounded rather confusing, but he tells me that it will all become clear as they play the match! I obviously don’t understand!

Whilst all the sport is being watched and played, Suzanne Cole has managed to produce yet another wonderful edition of InSpire. Copies are in our churches now so do pick yours up. We have also delivered copies to those who are struggling to get into church so hopefully no-one has missed out. Do let me know if for any reason you can’t go to church to pick up a copy and we will try and deliver one to you. Inspire is also available online here: www.capelandockleychurch.org.uk/2021/06/30/inspire-magazine-issue-52-july-2021/

Suzanne has also been busy creating more beautiful cards which are available in Capel church, please leave a donation in the wall safe. These cards have been very popular, we have raised over £250 from them, so thank you for supporting our church in this way.

Sadly, whilst doing my deliveries today I heard that Bernie Osborne died this week. Please include her family and friends in your prayers. Her name is not on this week’s sheets but will be included next week.

Graham Everness will take both our services tomorrow – 9.30am Matins at Ockley and 10.30am morning worship at Capel. A huge thank you to Graham for leading us in worship again this week.
This is the first week that the diocese have not produced a weekly sermon, so Graham has kindly given me the sermon he will give tomorrow which I attach for those who can’t be in church.

Our online services will continue for now, please do let us know if you find them helpful, how often you view them and any other suggestions you may have.

I also attach the readings and this week’s weekly sheet.

Don’t forget that Sunday afternoon sees the first ever Ockley church teas 3-5pm, please support them by having a cup of tea and eating lots of cake!

Lastly, the photo of the week is a rather misty view of Polesden Lacey taken from Ranmore this week – the weather has not been conducive to photography this week.

With love and prayers

weekly news sheet 27 June 2021

Dear friends,

This week has seen torrential rain and today beautiful sunshine, as a keen gardener I’ve enjoyed every second of it. The roses are in full flower and everywhere looks beautifully lush and green.

This Sunday Martin Gilpin has kindly agreed to come and take Communion 10.30am at Capel and Ockley will have Matins at 9.30am run by their very competent team. A big thank you to everyone who has helped with services whilst Liz and Doug are away, particularly Martin and Graham (who is back next Sunday) who are kind enough to give up worship at their own churches to come and lead us.

We have a couple of events coming up in our villages next week:
Saturday 3 July sees The Surrey Hills Chamber choir and The Surrey Hills Singers performing at the Crown Inn from 3pm. Tickets can be booked via Capel box Office (www.capelboxoffice.co.uk ) . Apparently there are only about 10 tickets left so book now!

Sunday 4 July sees the first ever Ockley Church teas 3-5pm at Ockley church, please do go along and support them.

Scott Broadwood School has a new clothes recycling bin which is for everyone to use. It’s just by the school gate so if you’ve been wondering what to do with all your old clothes that aren’t good enough for the charity shop the answer is right here! The school will benefit from all our donations so get decluttering! NB please remember this donation point can’t take duvets, cushions or pillows.

I will be away for a few weeks over the next couple of months, specifically 18 July 1 and 15 August – would anyone like to have a go at the weekly sheets? I can provide a template and all the pre printed sheets with the readings on. I am also looking for someone to deliver to a few people around Capel on those weekends. This is specifically for those who can’t make it into church at the moment and don’t have easy access to a computer. Your help would be much appreciated, just reply to this email.

I attach the readings, weekly sheets, and the Bishop’s sermon which this week is given by Archdeacon Paul Davies. You can also watch this here:

Lastly, this weeks photo of the week is a lush green pasture picture taken today on a lovely walk from Abinger Bottom to Leith Hill and back down to Broadmoor before continuing to Friday Street and home. A blissful walk for a warm day as much of it is in the shade.

With love and prayers
