If you drive past the Village Hall at about 5:15pm or 6;45pm on a Friday evening you probably see much activity as the Brownies arrive and leave! We are fortunate to have a thriving full Brownie Pack in Capel with 4 dedicated adult leaders and some current and ex-Guides helping out as volunteers too.
We have a varied weekly programme in addition to attending larger events with other members of Girlguiding. We regularly attend Parade Services at St John the Baptist Church and we get involved at other village events such as Christmas tree decorating, Capel Old Friends Lunch, Vicarage Fete, show Day in August etc.
Highlights from the end of last year include our family Bingo evening shared with the Rainbows, Guides and their families.
We had a super Holiday Weekend at The Old Pheasantry in Mogador when the girls did lots of activities to earn their seasons badge. We especially enjoyed making kites and flying them on Reigate Hill. We worked on and completed the disability awareness badge and had the badges presented by PC Mark Trezise and his wife who visited with their guide dog puppy. We made willow Christmas decorations, some of which the girls took home and some were used to decorate our tree in Capel churchyard, enjoyed by us all.
We are currently looking forward to an activity weekend at a PGL centre in East Sussex. The Brownies have been encouraged to earn some of the money themselves to pay for the trip. See our invitation for 8th March!
2014 marks the 100th birthday of the Brownie section of Girlguiding UK. We will keep you posted of our plans but we would love to make contact with any ex-Brownies living in or around Capel!
