I find it hard to believe that we are already in the Summer Term. The children are now busy learning about how plants grow, and the different plants that are growing ;n the local area. At the beginning of May (weather permitting) the whole school will be walking up Leith Hili with Ruby Cole, the National Trust warden, leading the walk. We will spend the dayenjoying the walk, and particularly looking at the different plants and trees that grow on Leith Hill. The children benefit enormously from vis.iting such a beautiful location so close to the school and always enjoy their experience of the day.

Our Traditional May Fair will be held at the Ockley Base on Saturday, 18th May. This is always a great occasion, with lots of traditional games for children to enjoy and food and drink for everyone. We will be selling raffle tickets in advance of the fair with same fantastic prizes. This is a great oppOrtunity for everyone to support your Village school. We are raising funds to create a ‘quiet area’ on the playgrounds for children to be able to sit In if they prefer a bit of quiet time at playtime and

lunchtime. These areas will be a real improvement to our grounds and we are really looking forward to developing them with the children.

Towards the end of the month, we will be welcoming our new children to the school for the first time. At Scott-Broadwood, our children start visiting the school in the summer, so that by the time they start With us in September, school feels familiar and the children are all ready to start full time from the start of the term. This is always an exciting time, as we get to know the new children and their families.
