Notes for Sunday 23 October 2022

Dear friends,

Last week I was reminded of the Creation Care website (see below). Some of you may remember I reported on this award scheme for households in the early days of COVID. This week I reviewed my answers and it came as no surprise that we had dropped out of the golden zone quite dramatically. The tumble was of course caused by our flight to Norway in July to attend my niece’s wedding. As was the case for many, we did not travel by plane (or much at all) from March 2020 onwards for two years. Also, living in the countryside necessitates a fair bit of car travel, which adds to the carbon footprint in the travel category. All this doesn’t stop us from reducing our car miles as much as possible.
In the other categories our score was relatively unchanged and quite high so we still came out as ‘highly commended’. It would be lovely to see some more uptake of this award scheme in our churches.

Welcome to Creation Care | Creation Care<creationcare.org.uk/>

The picture this week is of ferns growing on an established tree. The photo reminds me of the biblical image of us being grafted like shoots into Jesus, the true vine, by the Father.
God bless,

Dineke

About Capel Church

St John The Baptist Church, Capel is a small friendly village church in the centre of the village. We are part of the Surrey Weald Team of parishes close to the south Surrey border with West Sussex. The other parishes in the team are St Peter’s, Newdigate, and St Mary Magdelene, South Holmwood. Our church offers a variety of worship, both separate and as part of the Weald Team.
