Scott Broadwood News – November 2013

As I write, we ahve just celebrated Harvest Festival at Scott-Broadwood. I am always amazed by the children’s confidence, speaking so clarly in front of an audience in a large building. For some our our children, who have only been in school for a few weeks, just to stand up and act in front of an audience is a great achievement. This is one of the many advantages for children being in a small school: everyone takes an active part in all our celebrations.

Children at Capel also go to see the Harvest for real, on our annual visit to see the Maize being harvested in the village. The children were a credit to their parents and the school, coping brilliantly with a long walk to watch the harvest and then walking back to school carrying their own crop! These children truly understand where their food comes from.

By the time you read this, we will be busy after half term, having just celebrated Bonfire Night. This is the perfect time for all those of you with young children to come and see the school for yourselves – it’s never too early to start seeing what school will be like when your child is ready to start school. At our Open Mornings, you will be able to see the school in actionm with the usual wide variety of activities and opportunities for all the children.

For those of you who have a child who will have thier 4th birthday between September 1st 2013 and August 31st 2014, you need to apply for your child’s school place by January 15th 2013. Please phone the school to arrange an appointment to come and visit us, or come aloong to our Open Mornings: Tuesday 5th November at Ockley and Wednesday 6th November at Capel. Timings at both bases 9:30 – 11:30am.
