The film for the May meeting is Brooklyn. The film is about Irish immigrant in Brooklyn in the 1950s. There is a terrific cast led by Aairse Ronan, Downhall Gleeson, Julie Wlaters and Jim Broadbent. On Tuesday 2nd February we are showing “A Walk In The Woods”,  based on the book by Bill Bryson and starring Robert Redford as Bill Bryson.   On returning to the US after 20 years in Britain, Bill discovers a 2000 mile trail which passes near his home. This month’s film is Mr. Turner, which is based on Mike Leigh’s biography of the artist J.M.W Turner, who is played by Timothy Spall. Turner lived from 1775-1851 and was a member of the Royal Academy of Arts. A lot of the film was shot at Petworth House, which is relatively local for us, where Turner had a permanent studio.
