Capel Pre-School and Out Of School Club

We are having a busy and exciting Autumn Term and are delighted that we have been joined by lots of new families. The children are settling well and we have all been enjoying the recent lovely weather with lots of outdoor play. We are pleased to welcome tour new Forest School Leader Karen and have extended Forest School sessions on Monday and Friday afternoons.

Our Breakfast Club continues to grow and is getting many of us off to a good start to the day! This term we are very pleased to say that we have an After School Club too. Children up to 8 years old are all welcome – we collect and drop off from Scott Broadwood Capel base ourselves and children from other schools can be dropped to us as well. The children enjoy a warm welcome, healthy food and lots of play.

We will be holding our Annual General Meeting at the Pre-School on Thursday 12th November 2014 commencing at 8pm. This is an opportunity to find out what we have been up to over the past 12 months. All parents, carers and members of the community are very welcome to attend.

Capel Pre-School

As we come to the end of this academic year we bid a sad farewell to all our school leavers and wish them and their families well as they move on to the next stage of their academic life.

We’ve had a wonderful year achieving many things. With the kind help of the Capel Music Festival we have been able to create a quiet sensory room with beautiful resources to enhance the children’s learning and development. This term we have got our Forest School up and running. This has proved incredibly popular and will run again on a Friday afternoon from September and will be available to all our Pre-school children.

We continue to fundraise for our outside permanent classroom and the planning application will be submitted in the next few weeks. Hopefully you will be able to see and enjoy as you pass the building, it also marks another step towards outside learning for the children, essential to their learning development.

We move into the next year with some very exciting opportunities. We are starting a Bumps to 3 year old Stay and Play session on a Monday afternoon. This will be an opportunity for Mums, Dads, Carers or anybody in the community to come and meet with us. We will have members of the Children’s Centre and the local diocese on hand to offer advice on any issues that might arise for families. Anything from sleeping, eating and behavioural support to advice on housing and filling in of forms, all while their children have access to the room and all the resources to play with. A fantastic opportunity for our community, so please make sure you come and join us, 1:30 Mondays and we start on the 8th September.

Pre-Schoool starts back on the 8th September. I hope you all have a wonderful summer holiday and come back with lots of stories and pictures for Show and Tell.

The Brilliant Capel Village Disco

On 9 February 2013 the Committee organised its annual Disco for parents and friends of the Pre-school. We were lucky enough to have a live performance from The Practice and an excellent disco provided by Mark Sugden-Best of Treetops Studio. The event was very well attended (tickets sold out!) and raised £1,176 for the Preschool, which takes us much closer to our target for a new all-weather cover for the outdoor play area. We would like to thank all of the friends, family and local businesses who supported us, including:

Carters of Capel for selling tickets
Mark Sugden-Best & Phil Ware for the music/sound
The Practice for their live performance
Gary Collins for lighting the hall
Red Chilli of Dorking for a fantastic 2 course meal
Jane & John Chilvers for all their help in the kitchen
