I find it very hard to believe that this is my last parish magazine article as Head Teacher at Scott­ Broadwood, Over the last five years, I have led the school as it has continued to grow together as one school in two villages, with the whole team of staff, children and governors. I was delighted that the children’s academic achievements this year reflect the hard work of the staff and children alike, continuing to build on improvements from previous years and maintaining our achievements above the average both nationally and in Surrey.

Throughout my time at Scott-Broadwood, the community support for the school has been a real asset. The school is here to provide education to the local community and to ensure that children in the villages can begin their formal education close to home. Your support for this continues to be vital and very much appreciated by all of us who are part of the school community.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those of YOLl who have supported and helped me personally in anyway throughout my time here. I have many very fond memories of my time at the school and look forward to hearing of its continued success in the future. MrsMuat joins the school as Head Teacher from January and I wish her every success in leading the school from strength to strength.

Our Christmas Market is on Saturday, 7th December 12·3pm at Capel. There will be a variety of stalls for you to purchase Christmas gifts and treats, and a variety of craft activities for children with mince pies, mulled wine, tea, coffee and soup available during the afternoon. Please come along and support this event, or buy some raffle tickets beforehand!

Much of our focus at school in December is ensuring that the children understand the true meaning of Christmas, and share this with family and friends at our Nativities. I am always impressed by the way in which all of our children contribute to these performances. speaking clearly to an audience and acting with great feeling and understanding. Our final celebration will be our Carol Service and Whole School ‘Christmas Pause Day’ when the whole school comes together at our Cape I Base to celebrate Christmas and reflect and learn about the Biblical stories of Jesus’ birth.
