Tom dale

After a long battle against the odds, Thomas Trezise Dale died on 27th April 2016, aged 92 achieving the 60th anniversary of getting married to Jean.

The service of Thanksgiving for his life took place at St. John the Baptist Church, Capel on Friday 20th May. The service, led by the Rev Liz Richardson was well attended by all Tom’s family and friends who came to remember him. At the internment, one of the huntsmen blew ‘Gone Away’ in his memory of all the support he had given the Surrey Union over the years. After the service many people went to Tom’s Wake in the Memorial Hall where the Capel WI had put on a magnificent ‘tea’ although it was more like a banquet with wonderful sandwiches, scones, fruit cake and meringues and tea brewed on the Stage because the power in the kitchen was not available!

Tom’s life was rooted and grounded in Aldhurst Farm, but he was a great supporter of the Surrey Union Hunt, riding to hounds when he could and a long term Committee member. Not surprisingly, he was also a member of the National Farmers Union and Chairman of the local Committee for several years. He was a founding member of the Capel Fire Brigade that did sterling work during the war years, and he only left when it was disbanded.

Jean and Christopher would like to thank all their neighbours and friends for the many cards and offers of help following the passing of Tom.
