Weekly news sheet 25 July 2021

Dear Friends,

Hasn’t the weather been glorious this week? Too hot for some I’m sure, but for many it has been a joy.

We were lucky enough to spend the week on the edge of Dartmoor in a little village called North Bovey, first celebrating the wedding of a daughter of friends we have known for 40 years and then walking the wonders of Dartmoor, it has been a delight to be away for the first time since February 2020, but also lovely to come home to see how much the garden has grown in a week – we have so much produce – courgettes, tomatoes, potatoes, peas, cucumbers, beetroot, Swiss chard, and more so we shan’t need to buy any veg this week.

A huge thank you to Alan Smallwood, Sue Partridge, Suzanne Cole and Margaret Zandona for making sure the weekly sheets were available and delivered where necessary. They are attached as normal to this email.

Tomorrow’s services are as follows:
9.30am Matins at Ockley
10.30am Morning Worship at Capel

Don’t forget we also have the next teas at Capel this Sunday afternoon 3-5pm, please do pop in and support your church – bring friends!

Later this coming week will see the Service of Thanksgiving for Douglas James at St John’s Capel, 2.30pm on Tuesday. May we extend our thoughts and prayers to his family at this sad time. He and Hazel were wonderful supporters of our village and local church – may they rest in peace.

I look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow, but for those who can’t make it, do let us know if there is anything else we can do to help.

Finally, 3 photos this week, all of Devon looking at it’s best.

With love and prayers

St John The Baptist Church, Capel is a small friendly village church in the centre of the village. We are part of the Surrey Weald Team of parishes close to the south Surrey border with West Sussex. The other parishes in the team are St Peter’s, Newdigate, and St Mary Magdelene, South Holmwood. Our church offers a variety of worship, both separate and as part of the Weald Team.
