Thank You!

I would like to thank everybody who supported me in the recent District Council Election. Now that I am you Councillor I shall be working for all of you – and I am very keen to ensure that Capel (and Leigh and Newdigate) continue to be vibrant and friendly communities that they are. Obviously the threats to our villages from Gatwick and inappropriate building in the Green Belt are paramount, but on any other matters with which Corinna Osborne-Patterson and I are able to help with please get in touch – cllr.huggins@molevalley.gov.uk, or cllr.osborne-patterson@molevalley.gov.uk – we are always happy to hear about successes in our villages as well.

‘Thank You Capel Choral Society’

‘Thank You Capel Choral Society’ for your Teas and Tunes Concert on the afternoon of the 7th June! The singing was up to your high standard – a good mixture for all tastes! The excellent, bountiful Teas, were equally appreciated by all tastes! It really was a wonderful blending of sound and substance. Congratulations to you all for making is such an enjoyable afternoon. We look forward to a repeat performance!

Capel War Memorial

Following on from the appeal for help to clean our War Memorial in the June edition of the magazine, I do hope that you have seen the wonderful work that has been done by Shane Williamson, a friend of Doug & Rev. Liz Richardson. Given the time that it had taken me to clean about 10 sq.cm, it is nothing short of miraculous. However, like many other things, if you know what you are doing there is all the difference in the world, and Shawn is not only a stonemason but also a sculptor. He has cleaned both the Memorial itself, and the flagstones so the whole edifice is in a much better state than it has been for a long time. Our grateful thanks to him.
