Messy Church In Capel – Autumn Term

Tuesday, 25th September – Messy Harvest

Tuesday, 23rd October – Saints and Angels

Tuesday, 4th December – Messy Christmas

At Capel Memorial Hall. All starting from 3:15pm and finishing at 5:45pm. We understand schools finish at different times so just come when you can.

Who can guess why the December Messy Church has changed to earlier in the month than usual? This question is for children or anyone who feels eligible to go to Messy Church!

Proms In The Park

Saturday 18th August 7.30pm – but picnic from 6pm – on Capel Memorial Field

which follows on very nicely from the Horticulture and Car & Bike Shows

The First Half

The first half includes works from Haydn / Parry / Handel – good rousing stuff!

The Second Half

The second half has all the old favourites for “audience participation” of Jubilee and Olympics and flag waving and Union Jacks etc – a real celebration and not to be missed.

The concert will be held in the marquee (so under cover – no excuses there!) and on seats.

Tickets

Tickets cost only £15 – available from boxoffice@capelchoralsociety.com or 01403 269884

So hurry and book – you’ll need something to fill the void after the Olympics! – and this is it!

Flix In The Stix – Capel’s Cinematic Experience

Our final film before the summer recess is Steven Spielberg’s epic movie, “War Horse”, a story of loyalty, hope and tenacity in the first world war. Young Albert enlists to serve in World War One after his beloved horse is sold to the cavalry. Albert’s hopeful journey takes him out of England and across Europe as the war rages on. Albert and his horse, Joey, are separated by war, tested by battle and despite everything they go through, will they return home together???

Come and see this film in the Memorial Hall, Capel on Tuesday 3rd July. Doors open at 7:30pm. Programme commences at 8pm. £4 Admission. Pre-film and interval refreshments available. Everyone is welcome. A reminder that The Crown Inn is kindly offering special meal deals for those attending the show between 6 and 7:15pm, so why not make it a full local evening out. Bob Arthur

Olympic Cycle Races

A list of Road closures over the w/e 28th and 29th July will be placed in Carters Shop and Capel Newsagents. It would be wise to check before you travel to see if the route you plan to take will be affected by road closures. Be warned – for safety reasons roads are not re opening immediatley after the race has passed through.

The Evergreens

Our trip to the National Memorial Arboretum was cancelled due to lack of support and instead we went to Longleat. What a wonderful day it turned out to be. The sun shone and all the animals were out, really enjoying the sunshine. After a lovely lunch some of us went around the beautiful house, whilst others chose to go on a boat trip – altogether a really lovely day!

On May 28th we started our Jubilee Celebrations early with a delicious lunch cooked and served by our Committee, followed by a Royal Quiz.

This Monday June 18th sees us going to Eastbourne but, according to the weather forecast, we won’t be having our usual ‘Evergreens’ weather. However, we will have a good time.  K.R.
