Capel Village Grand Garage Sale

Have you ever thought of having a garage sale?

Have you thought it might be fun to do one on the same day as many others in Capel?

This scheme works very well in other villages. I would be happy to advertise it on everybody’s behalf for

17th May 2014

I would ask for a donation

£2.00 per household.

The plan would be for you to make money for yourselves, a charity etc. tHe donations, if not all used for the necessary advertising, would be sent to St Catherine’s Hospice. Please let me know asap if you would like to be included on the map of participating properties.

I have room at the front of my house for a few tables if needed.

The Children’s Society – Coffee Morning 2nd November

The Children’s Society in Capel
Coffee Morning in St John the Baptist Capel, Saturday 2ndNovember 10 am – 12noon

Dear friends and neighbours,

I have recently taken over from Rita Ball as the St John the Baptist Capel co-ordinator for The Children’s Society.  Rita has done stirling work for the Society over many years, tirelessly fundraising every year.  I’m sure many of you would like to join me in thanking her for all the hard work and wish her well in whatever she does next!  In 2012/13 alone, supporters raised a magnificent sum of £23.7million for vulnerable children and young people.  The Society’s main fundraising activity which most of you will be familiar with is the Christingle Service collection.  However, the Society needs your help to raise money every day of the year, not just at Christingle.  You can help all year round by having a box in your home or work place.  You’d be surprised how quickly the donations add up!  Even just the loose change from your pocket added every now and again, can soon add up and every little helps!  The Society has been established since 1881 and has from the outset worked with the most disadvantaged and vulnerable young people.  In the past 25 years they have probably become best known for their work with runaways, but they do far more than that.  It includes helping Children in Care, Children at risk of sexual exploitation, Young refugees and Young runaways.

As the start of my fundraising activities, I would like to invite all those who already hold collection boxes for The Children’s Society and anyone else who would like to join me, for a Coffee morning and Bring and Buy Sale at St John the Baptist, Capel on Saturday 2nd November between 10am and 12 noon.  There will be refreshments and delicious homemade cakes and biscuits available and a chance to meet other local supporters.  I will also be selling the Fairtrade ‘Real Advent Calendar’ and christmas cards and gift ideas from the Society.

If you would like to know more about the Society and its valuable work, you can find out more on their website:  www.childrenssociety.org.uk  and if you are interested in having a collection box all year round, please do let me know by either phoning me on  01306 711449 or via email on:  slc@ansford.me.uk     Please bring any unwanted ‘as good as new’  items that you wish to Bring and Buy to the venue and between us, I hope we can enjoy a social time together, with the added bonus of raising money for a very worthy charity.  Thank you and I look forward to seeing you on 2nd November.

Best wishes
