Capel Choral Jubilee Prom – 7:30pm Saturday 18th August

The big weekend in Capel this August will be augmented on the Saturday Night with our very own fantastic “Jubilee Prom Concert” on the Memorial Field – a most apt venue for such auspicious occasion – given by Capel Choral Society with Orchestra and Soloists and conducted by Peter Ford. Music will include not only more traditional works by Haydn, Parry and Handel but also those other celebratory pieces and Prom favourites which will make this a night to remember. The whole concert will add greatly, not only to the celebrations that weekend, but also to the other 2012 celebrations for Queen and Countru (= Olympics).

The concert will take place in the marquee at 7:30pm with gates opening at 6pm so there will be ample opportunity and space to indulge in a full picnic on the palatial surroundings beforehand – you can even buy a special bottle of Jubilee Champagne to toast whoever.

Tickers are only £15 – available on line at boxoffice@capelchoralsociety.com or by phone 01403269884. So make a date, – plan a party and enjoy what will be a magical experience.

Flix In The Stix – Capel’s Cinematic Experience

Due to the overwhelming success of our recent films and the choice of films available at the present time, we are screening two extra films this spring/summer. The first will be “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy” on April 24th but unfortunatley before this month’s magazine published; however I hope the posters in the village will have notified everyone sufficiently.

On May 1st we are screeing “The Iron Lady” starring Meryl Streep, who won an Oscar for best performance by an actress for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher, the first and only female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Come and see this film in the Memorial Hall Capel. Doors open 7:30pm, Programme Commences 8pm £4 Admission. Pre-film and interval refreshments available. Everyone is welcome.

A reminder that “The Crown Inn” in Capel is kindly offering special meal delas for those attending the film shows between 6pm and 7:15pm so why not make it a full local evening out!

Future films for your diary:

May 22nd – “My Week With Marilyn”

June 5th – “The Artist”

July 3rd – “War Horse”

All booked, but subject to confirmation nearer the date.

Come along for a “Cuppa and Cake” and much more – there will be many other attractions and produce stalls so what better way to spend a Saturday morning and support your local Choral Society. PS – If you can sing (even a little) why not chat to a member about coming along to a Monday evening practice at 7:30pm in the Hall and maybe joining in the grand Jubilee Prom on 18th August on the Memorial Field – hope to see you there.
